Day itinerary:

• Fly from the UK to Frankfurt airport.
• Hire a car at the airport and drive to Wurzburg (the starting point for the Romantic Strasse) for your first night in Germany. 
  

Accommodation: Overnight in Wurzburg

Day Itinerary: 

• Spend the day doing a walking tour of Wurzburg taking in the ancient city centre, the Residence (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and finish off at Staatlicher Hofkeller to sample some of Germnay's finest wines! 
• Then head to Rothenburg Ob Tauber for dinner.
  

Accommodation: Roter Hahn is in an excellent location and the owner is incredibly friendly and helpful. 

Day Itinerary: 

• Spend the morning walking around the ancient city walls to get your bearings. You can even get a horse and carriage around the town if your budget will extend to that.
• You have to try the local delicacy of Snaeballen (dry biscuit balls covered in an assortment of flavours - the marzipan is excellent).
• The torture museum is worth a visit.
• The town is most atmospheric at night time and its well worth a stroll through the streets.

Day itinerary: 

• After sampling Snaeballen one last  time, head to Dinkelsbuhl, stopping off at Nordlingen for lunch. 
• Nordlingen is built in the crater of a giant meteor. There is a surprisingly excellent museum that describes how the meteor hit the plains of Germany and how that would impact Europe were it to happen again - quite terrifying.
• Nordlingen is picturesque and worth looking around after lunch. There are a number of excellent coffee shops you can drop into as you work your way around. Once you are satisfied you have seen enough head to Dinkelsbuhl.
